No Sir, I don't get the same options as in the image attached to your
reply. I only get what I have posted. If further information might help,
I installed Ubuntu on Windows XP (SP 3). I tried transferring my
contacts from g-mail but failed. When I restarted the Ubuntu failed to
start. I was advisin
when you turn on our pc do you see something that looks like this

that is where you select the kernel - if you can select the second an
earlier one than the latest one that is installed it might work and you can
get your files off or perhaps
The message there "try booting from an older kernel". I don't know how
to do that. I am a user only. I can reinstall but I will lose my files
and updates which is pain. I hope the system have an online diagnoses
and fix.
