Just another note that I also tried installing lucid in a software RAID
1 configuration, and receive the error message when the installer tries
to install grub2.
I successfully installed lucid w/out software RAID, but as this is for a
new server, I'm a bit stuck for the moment.

I'm attempting to install to an Acer Aspire One netbook. I've tried multiple
setups, but in this instance I'm not using a RAID partition at all, just the 8
gb SSD drive that comes standard in the netbook. Attempting to install from

Thanks for the suggestions but I already have a workaround with the script
mirroring of /boot.
I tried many times to use LILO for RAID1 on 9.10 server 64 bit but it would
not work on the i7 mobo which was my initial target. LILO worked fine for an
AMD mobo. Thanks though.

I think this bug is not a duplicate and should receive more attention.
Bug #506670 only talks about adding a warning to remind the user of creating a

This looks like it was the same problem as bug #506670 - there is no
warning that you have to create a BIOS boot partition (or that we are
using GPT at all).
