i was able to extract an error from this issue
i think it has to do with the power management and karmic
steps:
1. i went to systempreferencesscreensaver
2. Clicked on power management tab and then things started to get wierd.
3. the dialogs on all my open windows dissappeared
4. 45 sec later
Thanks - I'll leave it open and the importance as it is for now.
However, in the meantime, please enable Apport by editing
/etc/default/apport and restarting your machine. This will catch any
future crashes which you can submit then, although these crash reports
will be of limited use if the crash

I'm sorry, but I haven't been able to reproduce the bug.
Since the bug report I have done some updates, and did some tweaks to my system.
Even my brother has not been able to do it again (he was the one that found
