That's an applet? It's the only one I could access from the 'add to
panel' menu (which is very limited btw). I guess the name is gnome-
volume-control (it says that's the command anyhow). But the one I
started out with after upgrading had a simple slide. This one has to
load before I can do anythin
spirituality, which volume control applet did you add? If it is loading very
slowly, it is likely the incorrect applet.
The problem with the sound setting not being remembered is currently being
investigated, and it doesn't seem to happen to everyone.

I think I know what the issue was. It's basically not a hardware problem
but a usability one.
For some reason the sound volume I want doesn't save. So I have to
regularly turn on the sound. In the menu on the sidebar I accidentally
deleted the volume control. I could not find the default one in th
Spirituality, to rule out any issues with hardware, could you please
test the sound quality with another set of speakers or headphones?

The tones are sometimes screatchy. can you say the notes are 'false' in
English? In dutch 'de muziek was soms vals' Not sure how to say that in
English. Unfortunately the problem wasn't totally fixed. It was perhaps
only a change in the song that made it less noticeable.

spirituality, could you please describe the sound problem that you are
having? Is the sound garbled, quiet, loud, tinny...? Also, exactly
which options did you turn off? One of them might be faulty and needs
fixing.
Also did you notice any issues with any other programs?
