When my BIOS aperture size is set to 4 MB, X tries to use 8 MB an fails. I have Ubuntu 9.10 with xserver-xorg-video-ati 1:6.12.99+git20090929 .7968e1fb-0ubuntu1 and according to X.org.log my card chipset is "ATI Radeon 9250 5960 (AGP)" (ChipID = 0x5960).
