Thanks for the update, seems very strange. Since you are the original
bug reporter and this is no longer reproducible, I'm going to close this

since posting this bug report, the beeping has stopped happening, or at
least hasn't happened since then. i have changed nothing. i cant explain
this, but i cannot reproduce the bug either.

I have this problem since I upgraded to karmic from jaunty. But it
occurs randomly. The pc speaker has already been blacklisted, so weird.
