...well, forget about my noobish bug report...
Ofc you have to reinstall/compile the drivers when you install a new kernel
version!
Works like a charm now ;-D

I now have the system up and running with all the latest updates except for
locking the kernel update to the current version 2.6.31-14.48 instead of
upgrading to 2.6.31-15.50.
But if I run this upgrade and reboot, this is when things go bad and the GUI
goes haywire...
I'm using Nvidia 9600GT
