Sorry, don't know when this bug occurred.

Recently have tried to install amSynth unsuccessfully.  Also have done
some automatic upgrades.

System has hardware raid with swap, root, and home partitions mirrored
on a pair of SATA drives with the boot partition on a separate hard
drive.
