Public bug reported: Binary package hint: pulseaudio
I could not get the sound to work permanently in Kubuntu 9.10 x64, except by doing an: $ sudo apt-get purge pulseaudio I thought it was an ALSA problem, but no, it is caused by pulseaudio 1:0.9.19-0ubuntu4. My hardware is Realtek ALC1200 (with analog speakers), also listed as: $ lspci |grep -i audio 00:1b.0 Audio device: Intel Corporation 82801JI (ICH10 Family) HD Audio Controller My motherboard is an ASUS P5Q with Intel Core Duo. The error message was that ALC1200 analog stopped working, so therefore the system switches to ALC1200 digital.
