Public bug reported: Binary package hint: systemsettings
Steps to reproduce: $ sudo aptitude install systemsettings $ systemsettings Actual results: System settings application opens without any options. Expected results: System settings application opens and includes among other tools the "appearance" icon that allows me to change the kde widget theme to GTK+. Workaround: Execute the systemsettings once as root. I don't have a clue why this fixes the problem but the package installation scripts should take the required steps to make stuff work without this workaround: $ gksudo systemsettings (close the System settings application immediately) ProblemType: Bug Architecture: amd64 CheckboxSubmission: f0bf0101e3df07a87acfbc156f0db03d CheckboxSystem: b5acb6c9ca4017b1d44043910f45329d Date: Tue Dec 1 12:06:49 2009 DistroRelease: Ubuntu 9.10 InstallationMedia: Ubuntu 9.10 "Karmic Koala" - Release Candidate amd64 (20091020.3) Package: systemsettings 4:4.3.2-0ubuntu7.1 ProcEnviron: PATH=(custom, user) LANG=en_US.UTF-8 SHELL=/bin/bash ProcVersionSignature: Ubuntu 2.6.31-9.152-rt SourcePackage: kdebase-workspace Uname: Linux 2.6.31-9-rt x86_64 ** Affects: kdebase-workspace (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Tags: amd64 apport-bug -- systemsettings does not work unless executed at least once by root https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/490773 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
