I'm using Gentoo, and see the same problem when using Okular to read
mixed language PDFs originating from Firefox. Most of the u
characters do not display. I wanted to add that I'm seeing very similar
results with some non-KDE applications, which may have a bearing on
troubleshooting. Both
The problem is present when a PDF document is generated by printing an
email written in Spanish language. On the other hand, when printing an
email written in english the document is displayed correctly. In
addition, in one case Okular displayed correctly the first instance of
letter 'u' and
Okular 4.3.3 on a different platform exhibits the same behaviour.
