It occurs to me only when shutting down my machine while firefox is
still open. It appeared on Kubuntu 13.10, 14.04 and 15.04 (all versions
of Kubuntu that I've been using in the last few years).

Micah, If I close my firefox window without closing the session and reopend
firefox the Session Restore message will not be shown. The 'standard'
behaviour is that the firefox session (open tabs) is restored. A user would
expect the same behaviour when firefox is closed as the result of a hiber

This is most likely an issue with Firefox not being capable of properly
restoring the pages after resuming. I'm setting the package back to
'firefox-3.5' and am subscribing the MozillaTeam, they know more about
Firefox and could help with determining the cause of this problem.

Actually, this is not a Firefox issue. That's the standard Session
Restore message. That should happen on Shutdown so that your tabs are
restored. It should not happen on Hibernation though. I would check
into why your hibernation is not working properly.
