The upstream developers suggest that this is fixed in HAL 0.5.10; if
that version will make it for Gutsy, I guess this can be safely closed.

I suppose you can. I reported the other bug against g-p-m because, the
way I see it, it is their job to provide a configuration menu to select
backends. IANAD, though, and I'm not familiar with the relevant division
of labour.

Yes, #119685 looks very much like a duplicate. The problem probably
needs solving both in this package and hal (the script I mentioned in
the original report has been moved to /usr/lib/hal/scripts/linux/hal-
system-power-hibernate-linux in Feisty, btw).
The relevance to gnome-power-manager is
Ok, I merged both bugs. This is more a hal bug than a hibernate one no?

This bug has been rejected by upstream so I'm closing it. Work is been

implementing an option dialog for that.

I did have a look upstream, and their answer doesn't seem too helpful.
As long as the script employed by HAL does not work for all
configurations out there (and it doesn't; otherwise, I wouldn't have a
reason to install hibernate) and there is an alternative available, the
bug is there and wishing
Well I don't know what to do :) As the option gui won't be implemented,
I think you guys had better open a new bug saying that suspend/hibernate
doesn't work with default script, that you have to use hibernate script.
And maybe someone manages to fix the default script.
