It seems you are assuming I am further in the process than I really am.
There is no key related to Ubuntu One in Passwords & Encryption Keys, so
I could not delete it, nor have I added any machines (according to
https://one.ubuntu.com/account/machines/ ) , nor do I know how to.

I'm sorry to hear Ubuntu One isn't working properly for you. Can you try
the following and let me know what the results are?
1. Open Applications->Accessories->Passwords & Encryption Keys
2. Delete your "Ubuntu One token"
3. Open Firefox and go to: https://one.ubuntu.com/account/machines
