I can't see any error in your Dpkg log.
Please, can you tell us if this is still an issue for you? If so, please, could
you run the following command from a
Terminal (Applications-Accessories-Terminal) while running Karmic? It will
automatically gather and attach updated debug

Seems like the problem corrected itself! I ran the command before
trying a new update/upgrade, just to make sure I got the error state
logged, and after the new update/upgrade things seem to have worked
out.
Did the same cycle on an older IBM Thinkpad and it worked without
errors there
