Yes, there was grub instead of grub-pc, probably caused by grub-choose-

But my Netbook Remix had install grub 2, so config is in grub.conf

It appears that something pulled grub 1 onto your system after the
initial installation. Could you please run:
sudo apt-get install grub-pc
and report what packages apt wants to remove from your system?
