For clarity here are the steps to reproduce it... 1. Open a folder in Nautilus using "Icon View" or "Compact View" 2. Hold down the left mouse button and drag the cursor so that a selection box appears. Use the box to easily highlight multiple files. 3. Switch to "List View" and try step 2. 4.

I noticed that the file panel in Brasero has this feature. But it is not very well done. Indeed, you have to first clic on the file to drag n drop it, otherwise it makes a rubber band. This is very annoying. I prefer the MS Windows way (or Konqueror according to Adam), which makes the difference
