Hi John,
We're in the process of upgrading cheetah to 2.4.3 right now. You can
track the progress in bug #663343. In fact the newer upstream was
already uploaded into natty, though a number of fixes are needed to make
it behave properly given the addition of python 2.7.

The new versions really do a lot to make utf-8 work well with cheetah
(without a lot of fiddling). Updating this would be good for everyone.
