I've similiar issue as Pavel described. Running 9.10 on both LTSP server and in chroot. However I had no problem before the upgrade (when we were using Jaunty). :-o I've noticed that the sound problem occurs mostly while watching videos in various FlashPlayer based video players on the web. It's
