The issue seems rather a corner case, who will open a directory, visual
parse the content of it, select something and copy in less than one or
two seconds? To send upstream by somebody quick enough to do that and
annoyed by the issue...

operation of placing the file(s)/directory(s) into the clipboard for
copying, and I am saying is that the trigger does not initiate the
operation until about 2 seconds after the dir

Copying is not meant to do anything visible until you paste the
selection somewhere
