The above post is the apt-cache policy before reinstall.
After reinstall the command was still not found and the apt-cache policy was
returned as:

I havn't had the chance to test it yet, but I've noticed that upon
restart that directory I created has disappeared, and there's no sign of
the share I created in smb.conf.

I created the /var/run/samba directory and started the daemon and it appears to
have accepted the share.
I'll test it some time tomorrow.
