Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: plymouth

plymouth totally breaks systems with root on crypted LVM. After entering
the correct password, the system just reports a system panic.

steps to reproduce (e.g., in kvm):

 - install lucid from current daily alternate installer
 - used guided partitioning with root on crypted LVM
 - boot system
 - apt-get install plymouth
 - reboot

Result:
 - blank screen, no visible password prompt (this is [probably] bug #496765)
 - after entering correct password, the kernel panics (probably because it
cannot find the root filesystem)

Expected Result:
 - normal system startup.

Used versions:
Today's daily, alternate installer.

** Affects: plymouth (Ubuntu)
     Importance: Undecided
         Status: New
