Impor
Since this workaround is working for you, you can edit the grub
configuration file and add the arguments there. To do so:
1. In a terminal:
cd /etc/default
2. sudo mousepad /etc/default/grub
if you are using Ubuntu, use 'gedit' instead of 'mousepad'
3. down arrow to the line that reads:
It works, thank you!
And maybe Ubuntu should do some fix? Or I must manually add the arguments at
each update.

Thank you very much for the logs. According to the kernel.log submitted,
you will need to try adding 'acpi=force' to the boot parameter.
ACPI: no DMI BIOS year, acpi=force is required to enable ACPI

Please run the following command which will attach necessary
information:
apport-collect 500301
if you are using Karmic Koala (9.10) or newer, or
apport-co
8.04 and 9.10 could not shutdown, at the end of the line the system
told: system halted, but the system could not power off itself. i have
to manually press the power button and then the system will turn off.
i use p4 2ghz and intel 945g chipset motherboard at the office. there's
a sis chipset too
