It means that, despite the bug -- which isn't in alsa or pulseaudio -- being explained to you, you haven't updated to karmic's proper kernel. Until you can reproduce the symptom using a karmic kernel, we're closing the bug report. -- sound with OSS not with ALSA

I have already explained that this symptom is -not- a bug in alsa or pulseaudio, so please don't belabor the point. Moreover, you may use several workarounds if you insist on using jaunty's kernel in karmic, namely see the wiki page for DebuggingSoundProblems and follow the (rather prominent) link
