Actually I'm just an Ubuntu user like you (I don't work for Canonical). Perhaps I was a little bit to fast in closing this bug, I tried to print a jpg with the lp command in Ubuntu 11.04 and that worked without problems. Therefore we need more information if you still have this problem. Does it
