I don't know at what time the link disappeared, but in Karmic "man
gdialog" again gives "No manual entry for gdialog.".

gdialog is deprecated according to gdialog --help. Maybe a gdialog.1 ->
zenity.1 link should be shipped with the package?

I can confirm this. man gdialog brings up the output "No manual entry
for gdialog."
