I've experienced hangs in both Nexuiz and Warzone2100 as well as severe crackling in Warzone2100. I tried overriding the output device, but that just made Warzone2100 hang. Installing the OpenAL packages from lucid fixed the crackling and presumably the hangs (but they're sporadic anyway). -- O
