textonly parameter has no effect when
I just ran into this (maddening) bug, and found this when searching for
the issue. has this really not been resolved in the intervening 4+
years? In my case, neither 'textonly' nor 'text' seem to work.

I recreated this using an 11.10 Live CD and booting with textonly and
only-ubiquity.

scripts/casper-bottom/25configure_init will remove
/root/etc/rc?.d/[SK]??[gkx]dm, but gdm uses /etc/init/gdm.conf instead
of /etc/rc?.d/[SK]??[gkx]dm.
Thus textonly boot parameter does not work.
