I got a similar problem.
When i try to start the application a window filed with grey starts up,
with a pink box, near the cursor, when i move the cursor the window
disapears.
I reinstalled Blender, but it still happens.

If you open up a terminal window and run blender from there (I believe
the command is just 'blender') do you get a more descriptive error
message you can add to this bug report?
