Similar behaviour is seen when installing e.g. Kubuntu alongside Ubuntu.
All the menu entries just say Ubuntu, albeit with different kernels.
It's potentially very confusing.

To be fair, the old versions were often broken anyway - they were
calculated in the wrong way. Arguably it's better to have no versions
than wrong versions ...
