This may be fixed now. I downgraded the laptop I ran in to the problems
with to 9.10, so I can't be sure, but my desktop running the alpha isn't
having any problems since I updated it on 1/16 in the am.

amd64 version is also affected. My regular user account also can't
reboot or mount anything from nautilus after the update.
