no, bug 38066 is about not being able to save because ftp isn't in the
writeable schemas list in gconf by default. 38066 says that opening
files is fine.

Just one connection.
A workaround would be for gedit/nautilus to cp the files to /tmp and
then reupload them, when finished: similar to gftp functionality.

There is a bug with the same message described upstream:

which seems to be due to the limitation of the number of connexions to
the server. How many connexions are you authorized to open?

If I open a file directly from gedit, it will open fine. Ie:
Open gedit.. Open file.. Select FTP server.. Select File... The file shows up
correctly.
But, if I open a file from nautilus, I get a problem. Steps to reproduce:
Open FTP share in nautilus.
Right click on a text file and select open i
Thanks for your bug report. Do you get any output on the terminal, when
you start gedit from there? Does opening the file in nautilus open it
correctly? Do you have the right permissions? (It works nicely for me.)
