I get a normal non-divided screen when I add sisfb to /etc/modules and
video=sisfb to /etc/default/grub GRUB_CMDLINE_LINUX_DEFAULT. May I
propose to automatically use/add this when a SiS graphics card is
detected - beginning with the alternate installer?

@#7: Not really like that. The screen isn't split in the middle but in
the upper quarter which shows the bottom squeezed. And in X/KDE
everything looks fine. It's just out of X: bootsplash, alternate
installer, virtual consoles. It also does happen in Beta1.

With Kubuntu Lucid Alpha 3 (i386) the divided screen only is shown out
of X. That means the bootsplash (of the desktop live CD and
installation) is horizontally divided and when I'm on a virtual console
(which also affects the alternate installer as shown in the screenshot
above). The login screen

Hi bugzilla-kerridis,
Please attach the output of `lspci -vvnn` and `dmesg`, and attach your
/var/log/Xorg.0.log (and maybe Xorg.0.log.old) file from after reproducing this
issue. If you're using a custom /etc/X11/xorg.conf please attach that as well.

The hardware info is gathered from a parallel Kubuntu Karmic
installation so don't bother about that X.Org 1.6.4 part.
