Public bug reported: my laptop's western digital hard disk seems to get hotter in ubuntu , i have dual boot installation with vista and in vista the hard disk seems to run cooler ,but in ubuntu it stays hotter even when there is no disk usage, when in vista my hard disk temperature averages around 44 deg C,but when i boot to ubuntu it steadily climbs to 51 deg C at idle,and stays there ,when there is heavy disk activity it gets even hotter,i can feel the heat when i place my hand over to the keyboard.i had this problem in ubuntu 9.04 and again with ubuntu 9.10. this only occurs when i have im plugged in to AC,but while in battery it seems to run normal.
