More investigation... it has nothing to do with the graphic card.
"rb_insert_color" is just a kernel function which is about data
structures called "red-black trees".

I've tried the following:
- running the Ubuntu 9.10 x86_64 installation disk
- "try Ubuntu without installing" (Ubuntu live)
- shutdown
and it fails all the same with the same error.
So it's NOT related with my own installation, but it comes straight from
the original.
