Public bug reported: Any SD card mounts as read-only, even if the SD card write-protect tab isn't in the "locked" position. An SD card won't ever mount with write capability even if manually mounted, or done through /etc/fstab; they can't even be formatted or partitioned in Gparted. The SD cards have been tested on 2 other Ubuntu installations (of different hardware and internal card readers) of other systems, one which has the same problem, and the other which works just fine with writing (with the same cards tested). The SD card reader ports are sanitary and have no dust; have been vacuumed and cleared with canned air, yet the issue persists.
