Confirming that this is still happening with LibreOffice 3.4.4 OOO340m1
(Build:402) under Ubuntu 11.10. The fix of installing openoffice.org-
base still works. I agree, I'm also sad to see that nothing seems to
have happened in 10 months. Maybe it should just be set as a dependency
until the
Launchpad has imported 33 comments from the remote bug at
https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=33266.

stevr1it, if you're just looking for a fix, it's easy:
sudo apt-get install libreoffice-base
