I just tested it, and the problem does not persist on the most recent
lucid:

Trying to play quadrapassel in Ubuntu Lucid AMD64, screen was blocked. I
resolved this problem changing screen resolution to 1024 x 768 pixels
and then changing resolution to the max value.
