Just my $0.02 -- we were having this problem with dapper on all of our
servers that were using 2010S. However, with newer installs (9.04 and
9.10) it has not been an issue.

This bug is still affecting me, I currently have two servers rendered
unusable by what appears to be this big. Not sure what version of
adaptec card they have in them, Il have too look when im at work.

Pah, I've given up on this issue. In the I was able to run Dapper with
the other driver, but raidutils still didn't work correctly. Switched to
3ware mirror ATA stuff now.

Workaround from LumÃr Jasiok confirmed.
1) On boot failure you'll be kicked to a very limited shell. Mount the
partition you installed Ubuntu to, which should be at /dev/sda1.
2) From the Ubuntu partition, go to boot/grub and change all occurrences
of /dev/i2o/hda1 in menu.lst to /dev/sda1 .
This is not limited to the 2010S or 2100S cards; it's occuring with my
AIC7899 as well. Dmesg entry, now that I've got it to boot up using a
workaround:

I can verify this problem on installing Ubuntu Server 6.06 on a server
running on a Adaptec 3210S RAID card. I was able to work around this by
editing my /etc/fstab file and changing all references to /dev/i2o/hdx#
to /dev/sdx#.
I concur with the suggested fix.
