I'm having a similar problem. Firefox crashes randomly, sometimes even when I'm
not active using it / am on a different desktop.

I tried to get a hint by running it in gdb and got the same errors on 3 crashes
(no ff debugging symbols):

I'm going to set this bug as "Incomplete", because we need more
information to work on it:
1. As, I said, try to run firefox in provisional mode, then disable all plugins;
2. Run firefox in command line and paste us the possible error(s).
