CPU usage is normal now, however, nibbles runs slower than ever. I have
enabled KMS to fix a bug that prevents me from booting, and that could
have changed something.

Works fine with nibbles 2.30.0 on lucid, CPU usage is really low, system
monitor says 4%. Could you please test it with this version too?

disabling compiz helps some. After the latest updates, CPU usage is now
around 50%. this is still higher than before but can be explained by the
graphic upgrades on the game and a poor graphics card.

Thanks for the report, i cannot confirm it uses a very low amount of
CPU, are you running compiz? could you try to disable that and test
again? which video driver are you using?
