i am also dual booting ubuntu all went well but it struck at looking for

Killing off grub-installer seemed to help the process along, giving me
the option to install the boot loader on /dev/sda, but now it's stuck:
Running "update-grub", which I assume is doing the same kind of scan
that caused grub-installer to hang.

I'm actually getting the same thing with my lucid lynx alpha3 install on
an IBM T61.For what it's worth, I've had recent hangs with grub in
debian as well. Removing the irqpoll option from my boot (left over
from a different mobo that died) fixed the hang. Others have said it's
driver issues
This new system is confirmed defective (stuck F12 key). I have no clue
whether this could cause the issue I saw, but I'm invalidating the bug
anyways because it will be too difficult to determine the root cause
with the defective keyboard.
