I'm pretty much entirely certain that Terminator is not responsible for
how the window manager draws the window borders and I'm not really
convinced VTE is at fault either - I'd blame xcompmgr and/or your window
manager.

Not sure if this helps, but from what I have read, this issue seems to
apply to applications which use the VTE widget. I have read quite a few
confirmations of this bug, but I cannot tell whether the bug should be
filed against applications using VTE, VTE itself, or xcompmgr. I would
suspect it to
