Public bug reported:

osd.update is broken in Lucid, but works in Karmic. Tested on lucid
live-cd dated 2010-03-07.

Not sure in which package the error lies, but the changelog for notify-
python just says it's recompiled for lucid, which makes me believe the
problem is in libnotify.

1) Lucid
2) unknown
3, 4) I expected the text to change in notification bubble, but most of the
time it doesn't.

The attached script will work as follows in karmic:
1. Display a notification with an Headline, description and icon set to
"notification-audio-volume-off".
2. Wait one second.
3. Display a notification with an Headline, description and icon set to
"notification-audio-volume-low".
4. Wait one second.
5. Display a notification with an Headline, description and icon set to
"notification-audio-volume-medium".
6. Wait one second.
7. Display a notification with an Headline, description and icon set to
"notification-audio-volume-high".
8. Exit script. Notification will remain on screen for 10 seconds.

In lucid it's the same, except step 3:
The icon will change, but not the text.

If headline and description is set to just "off", "low", "medium" and
"high" respectively, the text will not change in any call to
osd.update() (with a subsequent call to osd.show())

I have tried some other strings as well, there were no update with any
of them.

A user of a script of mine informed me of this issue. I have not
switched to lucid myself yet, but verified that the bug exist on a live-
cd. To my knowledge, the user has an installed version.
