there's two ways of solving this:
* For lucid, locally patch our /lib/udev/rules.d/60-cdrom_id.rules to
include hd[a-z]. That's what Debian is doing as well, and udisks already
supports that.
However, it would be our first and only deviation from upstream, so
you might not like that?

Here is my udev log from an installed system running lucid,
2.6.32-16.25. This machine uses the ide-pmac driver for the CD drive.
THe ide-pmac driver, used to enable hardware in G4 and G5 apple hardware
has not yet been ported to libata in the kernel. /dev/hda is not being
marked with ID_CDROM, and
Udev version is 151-5.

I can confirm this. Udev is not properly labeling the CD drive as a CD
device. I'll leave this on linux-ports for now, and will switch the
package to udev once I can get some udev logging from an installed
powerpc system.
