This bug was reported a while ago and there hasn't been any activity in it
recently. We were wondering if this is still an issue? Can you try with the
latest development release of Ubuntu? ISO CD images are available from
http://cdimage.ubuntu.com/releases/ .

I've had the same problem, periodically freezing system (every 10 secs),
compiz not working, with 2.6.32-16.25 using a Radeon HD 3450 on an
Intel machine with 2.8 GHz P4 and 2 GB RAM . I've reverted to
2.6.32-15.22 and the problems have gone away.
