I can confirm the bad behavior while playing a DVD on Edgy AMD64 with
mplayer version 0.99+1.0pre8-0ubuntu4.
Playing it with --nosound option works fine.
Please fix asap, that application is a must :-D

Yes. I confirm this bug on two machines with same system environment.
My system: ubuntu edgy.
mplayer:
ii mplayer-nogui 0.99+1.0pre8-0ubuntu4
The Ultimate Movie Player For Linux
libc:
ii libc6 2.4-1ubuntu8
This seems to be a symbol conflict.
Both ffmpeg and mplayer ship their own, private copy of liba52 and if mplayer
is linked against the system's ffmpeg this results the crash. Solutions would
be disabling it in one of both or linking against mplayer's private copy of
ffmpeg again.
Also it seems
Probably shouldn't be High priority, I should let the assignes change
that value as they see fit.

As stated in the first comment, downgrading works. This _is_ a
regression with ubuntu4. I have no idea if they are compiled with
diffrent gccs though. We need to ask the buildds that question :-).

How are you sure this is an mplayer problem? Quoting directly from the
output "It can be a bug in the MPlayer code _or_ in your drivers _or_ in
your gcc version". Does downgrading to ubuntu3 fix the problem? Thanks.
