Hello. I don't think that my comment appropriate for bug #527458 ,
so I would like to say it here - I'm also think that there should be useful
and convenient way for user to get power/battery state/information

I have been using lucid-beta2 for the past week or so and find the
missing tooltip an annoyance.
This is particularly accentuated by the fact that nearly every other
icon in that area has informative tooltips

That is important. If the inspiration is from OS X style "menu icons",
then you might as well copy the useful part: all of the "status"-type
icons (Wifi, battery) in OS X also display a entry that gives the

I think Roth Róbert's solution would be great, even having to click to
see that information, at least you get the info you need in a very
simple and useful way.

open a new window in my opinion too. As a suggestion: what's your

It is indeed a regression; and it isn't just on-battery. If there is
external power available and the battery is charging, there is no longer
easy mouseover information about how long it will take to complete
charging. This information does not appear to be available, regardless

Thanks, but this is not a gnome-power-manager bug. Tooltips are not
supported by application indicators, so reassigning there. That's
actually a design decision though

After speaking with seb128 on irc, this is the intent of the new design.
I do still believe that this is a bug, and has regression potential due
to the fact of now having to click on the icon to see the time remaining
and having to click elsewhere to go back to what you were working on. I

I can confirm this behavior in Lucid Alpha-3 updated as of this morning.
It would be nice to be able to quickly see battery % without having to
click :)
