Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: xserver-xorg-video-intel

Binary package hint: xserver-xorg-video-intel

X crashed and offered a list of options:

1) to restart in low graphics mode <<< (this mode returns to funny looking
right-handed (?MAC?like) theme
looks like X or a glitch in underlying intel driver crashes compiz and emerald
as well. this time i've enabled crash handler in CCSM with 'metacity --replace'
line. hopefully next time it will fail back to metacity without crashing
session)

2)reconfigure X <<< (have not tried custom xorg.conf yet)

3)restart X <<< (this simply blackscreens everything and X never
completes restart. escape to other tty1-6 consoles is impossible, have
to reboot)

i have skipped two other options. somehow the crash occurs during the
launch of Update Manager
