he can reproduce the bug easily there, upstream might have a better clue

could you try in a guest session? do you get the issue if you start
GNOME in arabic locale too? evolution didn't change a lot since karmic
and there is no other bug about this, the setting seems correct if it
happens to one user and not everybody using the locale
